General Summary

Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for providing virtual (desk-based) risk engineering services of a less complex nature through risk evaluation and limited consultative risk improvement service for multiple lines of business.
Key Responsibilities

1. Provides efficient and effective risk evaluation services through timely and accurate virtual (desktop) surveys to help provide an initial risk quality assessment of a current or potential insured account. The virtual survey could include: phone-based discussions with accounts and agents, review of available web-based information, detailed loss analysis to evaluate frequency and/or severity trends, use of aerial and other imagery, and additional technical research.
2. Provides desk-based consultative risk improvement services to clients through the analysis and evaluation of existing risk engineering measures, report preparation, safety consultations, and the development of recommendations and corrective action plans to improve loss potential.
3. Provides account-level support to other Risk Engineering associates working on larger, more complex accounts.
4. Continues to increase and broaden knowledge/expertise of the loss control discipline through internal and external training programs. This includes staying current on industry trends, developments, regulatory changes, and state of the art practices to ensure effective risk evaluation and consultation.
5. Performs other duties as assigned by departmental management, including: risk engineering project assignments, risk improvement recommendation tracking and analysis, work on line of business initiatives, training program enhancements, data collection and analysis, coordinating webinars for internal/external audiences, and other risk engineering initiatives. Qualifications

Minimum Experience/Education:
• BA/BS in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, Science or equivalent work experience
• Pursuit of a Professional Industry Designation (e.g., CSP, ALCM, CFPS, ARM, etc.) is desired.
• Minimum 1 to 3 years of risk engineering experience.

Communication Skills:
• Written: Good written communications skills required for report documentation and preparation. Must be able to compose reports in a clear and concise manner.
• Oral: Strong skills in explaining information in an easily understandable manner to insured's, agents, company staff. Listens to customers and gets clarifications.

Technical Knowledge:
• Capable in conducting desk-based, multi line risk quality evaluations of accounts
• Understanding of basic risk improvement services.
• Overall must possess technical knowledge of industry trends, developments and current standards.

• Effective analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
