Kemper is currently in need of a Senior Risk Analyst. Under general supervision, you will perform moderate complex risk quantification analyses to assist in accomplishing risk management group's goals. This includes working with risk capital models as well as maintaining risk monitoring mechanisms.


• Develop and periodically update internal risk capital models to quantify capital requirements.

• Validation of models for conceptual soundness, proper application of mathematical/statistical theories, evaluation of data and assumptions, and testing model computational accuracy.

• Analyzes trends, demonstrating an understanding of internal and external factors affecting such trends.

• Coordinate collection of data from multiple departments on a quarterly basis to delivery timely analyses to other parties

• Collect data for Kemper, peers/competitors, and the insurance marketplace for benchmarking studies and competitive analysis from various sources, especially SNL.

• Create and maintain risk monitoring dashboards.

• Communicate risk management methodologies to management, often through creation of presentations covering complex risk concepts.

• Maintains a good level of intra-department and intra-company relations to contribute to a coordinated workflow system which produces quality service.

• Maintain proper and thorough documentation for all performed duties.

• Assures that written job procedures are maintained on all reports where responsibility exists and recommends improvements in procedures to save time, improve accuracy, or improve the usefulness of the information.

• Identifies innovations and developments, communicates them to supervisor and proposes objectives to bring them to fruition.

Minimum Job Requirements:

•Education equivalent to a college degree in mathematics, risk management science, statistics or related field, or the equivalent in related work experience.
•Not required, but strongly preferred: MS in Math or Statistics / ASA / ACAS.
•Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite.
•3+ years of experience as a risk management/finance/actuarial analyst, demonstrating the ability to prepare and analyze complex technical analysis and reports.
•2+ years prior experience in risk management preferred.
