Job Summary
Under direct supervision, Technology Foundational Development Program(TFDP) role combines hands on IT experience with mentorship and an IT curriculum to prepare employees for a career in QA roles. Provides operational and business test support for computer systems used by the business centers and agents. Participates in the assessment of the system change specifications and requirements walk-through analysis. Responsible for the development and implementation of the system test plan(s) adhering to established procedures. May assist team members as needed.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Working closely with the business unit supported, assists in the development of detailed test plans and calendar. Executes test plans and identifies and documents discrepancies found. Reviews test results through demonstrated ability to accurately assess output results against expected results. Resolves discrepancies with technical personnel and retests as required. Communicates test status with business unit soliciting changes and/or feedback and updating test plan as appropriate. Other duties as assigned. Additional components of the TFDP role include: TFDP new hire orientation where employees will gain exposure to all IT lines of business within Travelers through lines of business overviews, networking with IT leadership, and networking with peers. Mentorship structure. IT Curriculum with specific coursework in IT in general and Travelers specific IT concepts that will set a foundation for a career in IT. Cohort group that meets quarterly to connect and share best practices and discuss hot topics. In addition to day to day management, employees will receive support from TFDP management.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Minimum qualifications: Obtained or in the process of obtaining an undergraduate or graduate degree and/or 0-3 years of IT related experience (can include one or more internship experiences in the IT field). Minimum GPA requirement of 3.0 or higher. Legally authorized to work in the United States. Preferred Qualifications: Obtained or in the process of obtaining an IT or business related (IT minor) undergraduate or graduate degree with a preferred GPA of 3.2 or higher. Preferred undergraduate/graduate majors include: Computer Science, Computer and Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics with a minor in Information Technology, and Management Information Systems. Demonstrated initiative and extra-curricular involvement showcasing IT skills preferred. For experienced or career changing candidates, full-time professional experience of three years or less preferred.

Technical Knowledge: Demonstrates a solid knowledge of business applications and processes. Has a working knowledge of the systems interfaces with the business operations workflow and a conceptual understanding of the corporate and departmental information system strategies. Is proficient in the use of workstation applications related to the testing function. Where appropriate maintains a basic knowledge of business trends. Sometimes requires assistance to perform tasks. Business Knowledge & Partnership: Effectively contributes and communicates with the immediate team, systems staff, other business units, service offices, agents, and customers, through a collaborative style. Demonstrates ability to adjust priorities based on changing situations. Problem Solving & Decision Making: Demonstrates the ability to evaluate test results and resolve input problems, or communicates test results to applicable IT units in a clear and comprehensive manner to aid in resolution. Able to recognize and analyze problems and develop timely solutions with minimal supervision. Team Orientation: Builds relationships with peers to achieve objectives. Balances team and individual responsibilities. Exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views. Gives and welcomes feedback. Puts success of team above own interest. Leadership: Tests systems and/or system changes accurately to insure system efficiency, integrity, productivity and maintainability. Communicates with business units when appropriate, utilizing solid written or oral skills in order to maintain system and/or product credibility. Planning and Project Management: Able to coordinate project activities with other teams within IT and business unit. Has some latitude for setting priorities and making decisions by using the general guidelines established by management. Provides management with necessary time reporting information as required. Financial Awareness: Tests systems, and/or system changes accurately to maintain and/or reduce operating costs for the company. May analyze business trends to enable the company to operate in a cost-effective manner.
