Job Summary
The Personal Insurance and Claim Product Director is responsible for supporting and delivering eBusiness initiatives for Travelers' Personal Lines and Claim LOB's. The Product Director will partner with the line of businesses to deliver on Personal Insurance & Claim digital capabilities. This person will work with business architecture and business teams to decompose high-level desired capabilities into the detailed features and deliverables. This individual act as a product owner and provide day-to-day business direction to other scrum delivery teams' product owners as applicable. The Product Director will partner with Delivery Management to validate adherence to scope, schedule and budget.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Partner with Claim and Personal Insurance lines of business to drive and instruct scrum team activities
  • Verifies alignment of feature development activities to business priorities defined in the capability roadmap, defined business goals and objectives.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively to executive sponsors, business stakeholders, and team members about their capability and related initiatives
  • Accountable for identifying and resolving issue/risk/change management needs related to assigned initiatives
  • Responsible for decomposing desired capabilities into detailed features, use cases, high-level business requirements (user stories), and feature acceptance criteria
  • Accountable and responsible for building and developing an effective product owner team as needed
  • Responsible for feature-based backlog refinement decisions & serving as an escalation point for individual scrum team product owners
  • Works with project delivery management to manage the execution of project work through the development lifecycle and project delivery process.
Supports development and maintenance of initiative roadmap (schedule, milestones, deliverables, dependencies, success criteria and metrics)

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
  • BS, Business Administration or minimum 7 years experience in Product Director capacity
  • Proven ability to apply process acumen to improvement initiatives, with measurable outcomes
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of prior Insurance Industry experience; prefered focus on Personal Insurance and / or Claim related programs
  • Solid operational knowledge of insurance, technology, strategy development, analytics
  • Ability to develop and actively lead an enterprise-level team comprised of cross functional members and executives
  • Ability to manage, lead and influence teams without direct authority
  • Excellent oral written and communications skills
  • Considers a broad range of internal and external priorities when solving problems and making decisions
  • Ability to develop relationships inside the organization and across the industry to identify trends and strategies
  • Scaled Agile Framework (or related experience) strongly desired

Environmental/Work Schedules/Other
Manages team development, very active in the mentoring of members of the PM community, may have direct management responsibility of PMs. Develops both IT and Non-IT Project budgets. Manages against them.
