Job Summary
Plans and executes at an operational level, and manages the effective use of resources to implement smaller to medium sized IT Security projects. This may include things like driving audit issues to closure or rolling out a new security technology. Drives enterprise wide security projects. Technical expert for are of responsibility. Understands the security landscape, best practices, and compariative analysis for job scope. Provides consulting and security reviews for new business processes. Drives process re-enginnering for efficiency or risk reduction.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Transforms security specifications into cost-effective information security solutions. Collaborates on resource planning and prioritization within established budget objectives. Works with the project manager or manager to identify project tasks that are most important to establish clear priorities and to understand the larger picture. Builds and leverages effective alliances across the technical and business communities ensuring the best utilization of resources. Provides internal and external team direction, mentorship and performance feedback on technical resources. Ensures security solution follows industry best practices. Technical expert. Can direct less senior employees.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Bachelor degree preferred or equivalent work experience, minimum 8 years of work experience in related field. Able to security components that span an area of focus (network, endpoint,email, forensics, eDiscovery) meeting busness requirements. Demonstrates technical mastery for an area of information security and ability to influence technical direction. Demonstrates a solid knowledge of the business environment and threats for Travelers. Leverages industry and enterprise best practices.

Job Specific & Technical Skills & Competencies
Primary Responsibility - External (Vendor) Security Reviews -
  • Research, understand, and work with Line of Business contacts to document business cases and data being sent-to or received-from Travelers' vendor partners.
  • Perform new assessments and reassessments of computing environment controls for Travelers' vendor partners.
  • Communicate security control deficiencies of Travelers' vendors to LOB contacts to help them understand the associated risks of doing business with the vendor partners.
  • Work closely with Travelers Legal and Procurement areas to ensure vendor partner contracts include appropriate security language.
  • Work closely with Travelers Engineering team to ensure B2B connections and data transfers with vendor partners are set up appropriately and securely.
  • Support various ad-hoc requests for Information Security expertise and assistance.

Secondary Responsibility - PCI Compliance -
  • Research and understand the PCI Requirements and their impact on Travelers.
  • Contribute towards the annual self-assessment activities for both Travelers and Dominion (Travelers Canada).
  • Identify potential compliance gaps or weaknesses and determine appropriate plan for remediation.
  • Consult with LOB contacts regarding new and/or changing business processes that impact credit/debit card payment.
  • Work closely with OAI-sys and Architecture areas to ensure that network and technology roadmaps continue to facilitate PCI Compliance.

The successful candidate possess a comprehensive knowledge of specific Information Security methodologies and processes, and has a conceptual understanding of most Information Security disciplines / domains. Knowledge of a wide variety of Information Security technologies / controls / functions is required in order to perform both the External Security Review and PCI Compliance related responsibilities. The role is exposed-to and requires knowledge-of the following areas: Firewalls, Intrusion Detection/Prevention, Networking, Email, Antivirus, Patching, Vulnerability Scanning, Remote and Wireless Access, Physical Access Controls, Data Storage Protection, Authentication, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity, Data Leakage Protection/Data Loss Prevention, Mobile Devices, and Cloud Computing.
