Job Summary
This position is the primary point of accountability to Claim Technology's Business Delivery Services area for the management and implementation of multiple large size projects or medium to large sized programs that support delivering business capability to Travelers business customers. These are efforts that can involve significant risk and complexity including third party vendor coordination and multi-location resourcing with matrixed reporting relationships. Claim initiatives are in support of Enterprise and/or cross lines strategic corporate goals to deliver business value.

Claim Technology is a growing organization that is on a transformational journey in partnership with the Claim business leadership and Travelers business leaders to understand and adapt to market disruptors and transform Travelers business, as well as to further the opportunities to leverage Agile / Lean methodologies in delivering business capabilities.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Has responsibility for planning and execution of the Projects' or Program's activities and working across claim to align and assign resources to ensure that established cost, time, and quality goals are met.
  • Works with minimal supervision and is responsible for having knowledge of and applying advanced Project Management skills, tools, techniques, and project methodologies to deliver business capabilities.
  • Ownership for ensuring project and financial management plans are established, that appropriate metrics are generated and all are used in concert to track and report on overall health.
  • Develops effective relationships across Claim to influence optimal outcomes which ensure solutions stay aligned with the claim business value and technology strategies.
  • Build and maintain trust and credibility with peers and business. Act as a change agent when necessary.
  • Partners with Senior IT sponsors to provide transparency and execute governance across the projects and programs.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
  • BS/BA Degree or equivalent
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written - this role requires relationship building skills, interaction with various levels within the Travelers organization and multiple vendor partners.
  • Typically possesses a minimum of seven years of Project Management or equivalent experience in the total Project life cycle with increasing levels of complexity. May or may not include management experience.
  • Knowledge of and practicing experience in lean / Agile methodologies as well as iterative and Waterfall is preferred.
  • Exhibit openness to other's views, a collaborative approach, and a sense of objectivity in difficult situations.
  • Capacity to analyze and understand business processes, sound analytical and diagnostic skills.

Environmental/Work Schedules/Other
Manages team development, very active in the mentoring of members of the PM community, may have direct management responsibility of PMs. Develops both IT and Non-IT Project budgets. Manages against them.
