Job Summary
This position is accountable for designing, developing, and providing data assets and solutions that have direct and measurable impact on the business. This position will provide strategic guidance and consulting to help identify viable opportunities to maximize the use of the Big Data platform and end-to-end solutions. This is a leadership role accountable for driving the big data capabilities, development, and ongoing enhancements of the Big Data and analytics environments in support of the enterprise.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Implement data architecture, including data ingress in batch and real time from a broad variety of external systems; data transformations to prepare data for analytics processing, and data ingestion for availability of analytics results to visualization systems, applications, or external data stores.
  • Support assigned systems and/or projects through broad conceptual understanding of capabilities and direction of technology, coupled with an in-depth knowledge of the technology required and the needs of business environment.
  • Anticipate customer needs, and effectively communicate in a manner consistent with the audience. Educate and influence customers using broad technical experience on the most effective use of technology, from both a short-term and long-term perspective.
  • Utilize outstanding analytical and diagnostic skills when dealing with complex issues and uncertainty, and make sound decisions quickly while carefully evaluating risks and alternatives before taking action.
  • Apply negotiation and collaboration skills, and effectively consult and communicate with key stakeholders regarding critical decisions.
  • Effectively communicate from technical team direction to senior management presentations with an adaptive style for gaining the engagement, cooperation and commitment of others.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Bachelor degree preferred or equivalent work experience, minimum 5 years of work experience in related field. Typically has 7 or more years of varied experience in the following technologies and capabilities: Expertise with HDP Hadoop stack (e.g., HDFS, Hive, Pig, Hadoop streaming, Mapreduce and Ambari).
Experience with Hadoop security (Kerberos, Ranger Knox)
Ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly.
Advanced programming skills in Java/Java EE, Scala, or Python.
RESTFul service design and development.
Proficient in Linux/Unix scripting.
Experience in NoSQL/SQL database design, development and data modeling.
E xperience designing and developing data pipelines.
SAS/R Experience.
Experience with SCM tools such as Git/SVN.
Experience managing technical product lifecycles. A solid understanding of emerging technology capabilities, and a keen interest in staying abreast of emerging technology trends and open source projects and tools.
