This position will be working remotely in western Pennslyvania (Pittsburgh) and reporting to the Pennington, NJ office.

As a critical key member of our front-line team your contributions will have a direct impact on that commitment. Your marketing duties will include generating profitable production from your assigned territory (western PA) by promoting products to develop existing agencies, as well as prospecting and appointing new agencies.   • Manage a commercial underwriting territory of $5 to $12 million

  • Attain positive results for premium growth and acceptable loss ratios, through sound risk selection
  • Review and evaluate risks and coverages of new and/or existing commercial lines requests adhering to insurance principles and Company guidelines
  • Participate in the issuance of policies
  • Communicate with agents concerning the decisions of submissions, the explanation of new and existing products and services as well as other data relevant to departmental activities
  • Work with agents and CSR's to obtain a saleable program for the agent/insured while avoiding adverse selection against the company
  • Maintain accurate file documentation of decisions made
  • Apply proper judgment in the pricing of products within the predetermined authorization and ensure proper documentations for risks requiring managerial authorizations
  • Assist in developing new products which contribute to growth and profits
  • Assist Marketing Department in achieving and relaying Company goals and new products or procedures internally and by agency visitation

  • 7+ years' experience working as a Commercial Lines Underwriter

  • Must have, or working towards, CPCU, AU or CIC designation
  • A four-year college degree or equivalent insurance experience
  • Solid knowledge of commercial insurance forms, coverages and contracts
