Chubb's Northern California Branch, in San Ramon, currently has avacancy for an Underwriting Associate to support the Commercial underwritingsegment.
The Underwriting Associate is accountable for collaborating with team membersto achieve growth, profit, renewal retention, service and producer/clientmanagement goals for an assigned book of business in the Commercial underwritingsegment. The Underwriter Associate will gather and analyze account information(loss information, driver information, financials, loss control reports, etc.)and develop underwriting recommendations and pricing strategy. Additionally,the UA completes documents and refers risk reports to underwriter and handlesindividual risk inquiries from brokers/agents. Coordinates account processingfor renewals and new accounts with underwriter and customer servicerepresentative. Providing rating and issuance instructions includingappropriate forms, coverages, and final premium will be a critical expectation,as well as reviewing submission information with underwriter and preparingquote letter and documenting underwriting analysis information in theelectronic file; ensuring electronic file integrity. The Underwriter Associatewill also be responsible forprocessing endorsements within designated authority. Position has dualaccountability to both Operationsand Underwriting Management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong desk management, written and verbalcommunication skills.
Ability to multi-task andto independently organize work and prioritize competing demands and requests tocomplete work within required time constraints.
Must demonstrate stronganalytical skills and mathematical aptitude.
Knowledge of underwritingprinciples, product specific coverage, policy forms, pricing tools, regulatorycompliance and insurance systems preferred.
Demonstrated proficiencyin using on-line reference manuals.
Familiarity with ISOworkers compensation bureaus and other state regulatory agencies withinassigned territory a plus.
Demonstrate the abilityto recognize exposure to a loss.
Ability to effectivelyand regularly use multiple electronic systems.
Must be proficient in MSWord and Excel.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma orequivalent.
Some college and/orunderwriting exposure preferred.
