The Underwriter position requires a strong problem solving and organizational skill set with an emphasis on customer service as a MUST! As an Underwriter, the candidate must possess the ability to cultivate key relationships to maintain a steady stream of business while remaining within the quality standards set by company.  The Underwriter must be able to analyze and assess risks, provide agent/insured with tailor made solutions and calculate the required premium according to the National Flood Insurance rating rules and guidelines.  

  1. Answers questions or resolves problems of agents, insured’s, and internal customers via written and verbal communications.
  1. Ability to apply rules and rates to normal rating situations involving new business, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations.
  1. Ability to pull rates from the NFIP manual and prepare quotes utilizing the Submit for Rate rating worksheet for quality review and approval.
  1. Ability to understand and apply rules for V zone and elevation certificate rated (non-submit for rate) policies.
  1. Ability to understand and apply rules for all non-submit for rate RCBAP policies.
  1. Ability to accurately review and rate all regular A and D zone submit for rate policies.
  1. Ability to explain rating process, and/or procedures via internal and external communication including but not limited to via phones, and/or chat.
  1. Excellent interpersonal skills with the commitment to work successfully in a team environment and foster teamwork albeit with teammates, leadership and executive
  1. Ability to explain rating process, and/or procedures via internal and external communication including but not limited to via phones, and/or chat.
  1. Other duties as requested and/or assigned.
