Key aspects of this role:

As a Claims Adjuster Trainee, you will be responsible for investigating and handling claims utilizing state specific guidelines. You will also be expected to foster the growth of our claims professionals while completing an in house training program, which includes developing a fundamental understanding of the claims environment while providing quality customer service. Therefore, we will ask that you are able to effectively:

  • Initiate the investigation of new claims, execute compensability decisions, and evaluate and negotiate settlements of claims as appropriate

  • Manage and oversee the work of outside adjusters and experts

  • Recognize state specific laws and claims regulations throughout the U.S. to insure proper compliance

  • Audit fees of independent adjusters, appraisers, and other vendors

  • Document claim file notes clearly with all communications and activities that occur during the handling of the claim using factual and objective information

  • Respond to time sensitive materials such as hearings and departments of insurance complaints

  • Manage a diary to systematically review and resolve claims with the specified state guidelines

  • Maintain state license(s) by completing continuing education coursework and/or work toward a claims designation

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills and background that we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four year college or university is highly preferred

  • Claims designation and/or state licensing a plus

  • Ability to read and interpret insurance policies, state laws and regulations

  • Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication is necessary

  • Strong research, analytical and interpretive abilities

  • Willingness to work outside of normal business hours on occasion to meet deadlines or personal performance objectives
