As a Workers' Compensation (WC) Underwriter, you will be primarily responsible for providing assistance to the WC Business Manager in multiple facets of managing the WC Product Line of Business. This will include collaborative efforts on designing, implementing and monitoring underwriting processes to ensure growth and profitability. Desirable candidates will be able to effectively:

  • Research and analyze WC Line of Business opportunities and performance and make recommendations on areas needing improvement/growth/development

  • Perform underwriting audits and manage findings requiring a plan of action

  • Prepare necessary files and responses to Market Conduct Exams

  • Work cooperatively within CUO Department and with staff in Accounting, Claims, Compliance, Customer Service, Information Systems, Legal, Loss Control, Marketing and Products to provide excellent service to both internal and external customers

  • Monitor frequency, severity and rate performance at various levels and provide quality decision making to recognize and act on opportunities

  • Execute ad hoc duties and requests as assigned

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience highly preferred

  • A minimum of 3 years of WC underwriting experience

  • Insurance coursework and/or designation is a plus

  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication talent is essential

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Solid ability to demonstrate advanced critical thinking, reasoning and analytical skills
