The primary responsibility of this position is to assist the Product Managers in several facets of managing the National Accounts product lines. This includes assisting in the renewal process as well as designing, implementing, underwriting, servicing and marketing programs to ensure growth and profitability for the product lines

Main Responsibilities:

  • Review and price commercial fleet insurance submissions. This includes reviewing submissions in order to decline/quote within the parameters of policy coverages, state regulations, National Interstate's underwriting philosophy, and delegated authority.

  • Review and act upon risk information reports such as loss control reports, Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs), loss runs and financial statements.

  • Obtain critical underwriting information (i.e., Uninsured Motorist (UM) rejection, collateral agreement, letter of credit, etc.) within specified time standards or, in cases of noncompliance, send a notice of cancellation.

  • Place facultative reinsurance when authorized and required, as well as develop relationships with reinsurance markets.

  • Prepare information for policy issue, and review the final policy for accuracy.

  • Work cooperatively with Underwriting, Marketing, Claims and Accounting staff so that excellent service is provided to customers.

  • Research, compile, and analyze program performance and other metrics used by the product managers.

  • Work with product managers to analyze and recommend program enhancements and product line extensions.

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Skills and background we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university is strongly preferred

  • Professional designation coursework (CPCU, ARM, etc.) a plus

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to write reports, effectively present information, and respond to questions from clients, customers, and the general public.

  • Working knowledge of PCs, especially databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
