The Tax Analyst is a technical position requiring prior experience in general areas of corporate taxation, including federal income tax, state & local income tax, property taxes, information reporting, sales/use taxes, and tax accounting. This individual would focus more upon tax functions as they relate to tax planning and research, but would perform an advisory role in compliance for more complex state income tax returns as well as help prepare federal returns. This position would operate with minimal need of guidance and supervision.

Key Responsibilities
1. Preparation of tax returns as assigned, including federal and more complex state income tax returns.
2. Assists in the evaluation of various tax bills & legislative actions
3. Assists in the representation of the companies with Federal, State, and/or local taxing authorities in the disposition of audits
4. Assists in the preparation of financial statement tax accruals.
5. Assists in special projects as needed.
Minimum Experience / Education:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business or related fields;
- CPA designation; and,
- Three or more years of experience in tax, insurance specific experience a plus but not required.

Communication and Collaboration Skills:
Written: Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Oral: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, regulators, auditors, customers inside and outside the SA organization.

Technical Knowledge:
Possess a working knowledge of federal and state income tax laws and a basic knowledge of accounting theories and rules. Ability to operate a personal computer with familiarity in the use of word processing & spreadsheet software, tax specific return preparation software and research tools.

Problem Solving:
Ability to apply mathematical concepts, such as interest, fractions, exponents, percentages, ratios, and basic algebra to practical situations.
Ability to apply tax laws and accounting principles and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule forms to various routine & non-routine situations which arise in ordinary course of business.
