General Summary

Leads and manages Personal Claims Large Loss/Litigation staff operations. Manages projects, vendors, and services to achieve Claims objectives and goals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Execute on Personal Claims Department strategies to achieve Claims quality, customer service and operational objectives.
2. Manage, lead and develop claims staff.
3. Create an environment to provide opportunities for all associates to reach their full potential.
4. Develop a partnership with sales and underwriting to deliver customer service and foster agency relationships consistent with State Auto's mission, vision and values.
5. May work closely with claims counsel, general counsel, and reinsurers.
6. Prepare and manage department budgets.
7. Coach/mentor leadership and/or associates towards performance improvement and career development.
8. May be called upon to perform additional duties as directed. Qualifications Experience / Education:

• 10 years or more in Personal casualty claims handling experience preferred.
• 3 or more years experience in training, leading, and supervising the work of others is required.
• High school degree or equivalent; college degree preferred.
• Insurance designation preferred.
• Basic computer skills and Microsoft applications.

In states where required, obtains and maintains necessary adjuster licensing.

Communication: Human Relations and Customer Service experience is required. Ability to explain simple and complex issues. Prepare and deliver presentations. Participate in the interview and selection process of Claims Staff. Give feedback to direct reports in a clear and concise manner. Must communicate regularly with staff regarding latest legislation, policy changes, and changes in claim practices and procedures.

Collaboration: Must be able to collaborate and develop strong team relationships with associates from within and outside the Claims Department.

Technical Knowledge: Must have extensive knowledge in claims processes and procedures along with overall knowledge of the insurance industry. Must have the ability to read and understand legal documents.
