General Summary
The primary responsibility of the actuarial positions is to evaluate and monitor the effect of loss experience on the rate structure and to develop rates that are adequate, not excessive or unfairly discriminatory.

Key Responsibilities
1. Responsible for conducting rate studies and preparing rate recommendations for management.
2. Ensures that rate development activity complies with applicable state insurance laws, regulations, rules, bulletins and guidelines.
3. Develops statistical information as requested by internal and external sources.
4. Monitors quality of statistical coding required for actuarial purposes.
5. Provides advice to other departments as to proper methods of sequences for calculating premiums.
Minimum Experience / Education:
College degree in mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science is required. The incumbent will have passed two exams of the Casualty Actuarial Society and will have completed two years of experience in an actuarial/pricing environment.

Communication and Collaboration Skills:
Strong oral and written communication skills required. Must be able to correspond in writing or by telephone with insurance department representatives in explaining and gaining approval of filings. May also assist in drafting agency bulletins to communicate pricing changes. Strong analytical and problem solving skills are required.
