General Summary
Manages the Commercial Insurance activities of assigned regional territories which include underwriting, marketing, audit, administration and collaborative management of claims and loss prevention. Responsible for operating results. Directs the development of new Commercial Insurance and the appointment of new agents. Advises the regional director regarding trends, competition, and other important matters pertaining to regional operations.

Key Responsibilities
1. Directs and manages a staff of commercial insurance professionals in providing sales and underwriting services to ensure profitability, growth and customer service.
2. Determines staffing and training needs to capitalize on strengths and development of associates and maximize regional performance
3. Recommends appointment of agencies in accordance with established guidelines; implements business development plans for agencies recording loss or other identifiable problems; may also recommend termination of agencies not meeting growth or profit requirements.
4. Works with regional director to establish and monitor profit goals
5. Monitors regional competition and makes recommendations for adjustments as needed to maintain a favorable position in the region. Qualifications
Minimum Experience / Education: Have a minimum of 8 years underwriting and sales experience in commercial insurance and a minimum of 2 years in a management capacity. College degree; IIA Underwriting Programs, AU65 and AU66 or a combination of other equivalent programs; 5 parts CPCU and working towards completion; industry and community involvement a plus
Communication and Collaboration Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are required for internal and external audiences with varying levels of expertise and understanding of our industry. Communication must be clear, concise, professional, grammatically correct, and tailored to the level of the audience. Effectively conduct meetings as necessary.
Problem Solving: Listening and collaboration skills are needed to effectively understand and address issues.
