Job Summary
Responsible for partnering with the Regional Marketing Vice President and the PL organization to manage the overall profitability and growth of automobile and homeowner products for several states/regional assignment. To achieve profitability and growth, the product manager adapts the standard product design to conform with the state requirements and market conditions, defines eligibility and underwriting rules, sets adequate rates, and establishes a retention strategy within this context.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Work with the field sales team to develop state profit and growth strategies including product positioning and marketing approach. Lead a technical pricing team to direct the analysis process and make rate and trend selections to meet profitability goals. Coordinate the rate revision schedule with the systems integration team and field organization. Make fact based strategic decisions based upon a knowledge of the market, which includes competitors, regulatory and legal environment, claims handling trend, and distribution channel/agent relationships. Work with the PL internal regulatory/filing unit to respond to the department of insurance for rate filings and market conduct exams and serves as a consultant on consumer complaints and other interactions. Has a thorough understanding of competitors and alternative markets within each environment. Ability to articulate financial results and impact of strategy to senior management. Develops and maintains relationships with state regulators by attending regulatory meetings (i.e., IRES, and SERA), insurance department visits and participation in industry group meetings. Develop and maintain relationships with state regulators by attending regulatory meetings (i.e., IRES and SERA), daily phone contacts, and insurance department visits. Manages profitability and growth for one large state or several small states. State assignments will tend to be less complex in terms of the regulatory environment. Typically will directly manage a staff of 1-3 analysts.
