The Automobile Club of Southern California is seeking career-minded individuals for our Senior IT Security Engineer opportunity in Costa Mesa, CA.

As a Senior IT Security Engineer based in Costa Mesa, you will be a key member of the Security Engineering team, who will provide expertise in designing, engineering, and deploying security solutions in support of enterprise-level security initiatives. The Security Engineer requires technical expertise in designing and implementing secure enterprise level solutions, strong knowledge of security protocols and APIs, strong relationship and consulting skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work on multiple concurrent engagements.

  • Managing and maintaining security standards across security capabilities (Identity and Access Management, Application Security, Data Security and Privacy, and Security Monitoring)
  • Leads and/or contributes to the planning, design, and engineering of security and compliance solutions across the risk and portfolio
  • Plays a leading role in designing implementation strategies for encryption of data and data privacy
  • Evaluates and plays an active role in implementation/life-cycle management of multiple hardware and software technologies designed to protect information
  • Knowledge and understanding on the creation/implementation of secure networks, firewalls and intrusion-detection/prevention systems
  • Understanding common attacks, attack methods, and defense architectures
  • Defining, developing, and implementing new security components and integrations
  • Providing awareness and education around technical techniques to address vulnerabilities
  • Providing techniques and patterns for securing integration with external vendors or cloud providers
  • Subject matter expert/contributor measurably improving the overall security framework and program
  • Responding to complex security incidents and escalations, performing advanced analysis and troubleshooting, and resolving incidents


  • 3+ years experience in Information Security and 10-15 years total technology experience with expertise with design, development, and deployment of complex highly available, and secure, integration solutions
  • Experience working with security protocols and standards like SSL/TLS, PKI, Certificates, PCI, MAR, ISO standards
  • Strong knowledge and usage of design methodologies, patterns, best practices such as TOGAF, Gartner Methodology, or similar approaches, as they apply to information security architecture
  • Understanding of infrastructure technologies and deployment processes as they relate to middleware and security
  • Experience with common technologies/platforms such as SEIM, IDS/IPS, technologies such as Arcsight, Rapid 7, Encase, FireEye, Forcepoint WCG/DLP
  • Ability to estimate, plan, lead and execute complex technical projects
  • Experience with .NET and Java security development frameworks and knowledge of commonly used security protocols is highly preferred
  • Experience with secure coding and development practices is highly preferred
  • InfoSec certifications such as CISSP, CISM, OSCE, etc. are preferred
