Job Description

The Encompass Regional Director - Product is responsible for achieving profit and growth targets for an assigned region. This individual has full understanding of product & state P&L with the ability to move key levers. Additionally, this individual must develop integrated strategies involving product, pricing, underwriting, contract structures and return on capital requirements. In addition, this individual must coach others to achieve desired growth and profit goals, drawing upon expertise in product, pricing, risk management and knowledge of the business.

Human Resources
Directs and is responsible for work that needs to be performed by a team and/or department
Participates in interviewing and candidate selection
Responsible for meeting all Performance Management practices for team(s) and/or a department
Ensures adherence to company's management practices and processes
Ensures execution of performance management and development plans for all direct reports
Responsible for succession planning and talent development for a team and/or department
Actively involved in talent development for a team and/or department

Develops Strategy and Ensures Execution of Local MOC/Line Strategies and Plans
Leads MOC in developing short and long-term strategies for the MOC to achieve growth and profitability targets.
Ensures an effective strategy is developed and implemented for the integration and execution of product, pricing and risk management strategy with the MOC
Developing relationships with regulators/legislators and develops strategy to positively impact the business environment
Contributes to and/or lead innovative distribution strategies which may include new initiatives, agency education and best practices

Knowledge Management
Provides written and oral communication of highly specialized terms and data and can present to others
Extensive product, price, risk management and insurance regulation knowledge, with working knowledge of lines, rate plans and product offerings

Functional Knowledge
Responsible for compliance with current industry standards/environment that impact decisions and indicates requirements
Serves as a subject matter expert and can consult on complex issues within their discipline(s) from both an internal and external perspective

Job Qualifications

The successful candidate will have eight to twelve years of relevant experience in progressively more responsible roles, with at least three to five years of general management and leadership experience.

Knowledge and expertise should include
Extensive product, price, underwriting and insurance regulation knowledge, with advanced knowledge of personal lines rate plans and product offerings;
Demonstrated understanding of the complexities of the independent agency distribution channel;
An advanced knowledge about business in general and seasoned, in-depth, multi-dimensional knowledge of industry and company economics;
Proven ability to develop and/or revise business tactics to support changing business strategies and direction
Ability to analyze and interpret complex concepts; Ability to solve complex problems
Leads and collaborates across boundaries to implement decisions and/or initiatives in an integrated manner
Ability to measure, evaluate, and act on results (financial and operational);
Ability to develop strategies and implement (Underwriting, Pricing, and Product) programs for assigned states
Ability to concentrate on a wide range of loosely defined complex situations, which require application of creativity and originality, where guidance and counsel may be unavailable.

This position requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. FCAS and/or CPCU designations are preferred, but not required.
