Established almost 70 years ago, Illinois Casualty Company provides insurance products and aggressive claims defense exclusively for the food and beverage industry in seven states. We’re looking for an Associate Claims Representative at our Rock Island, IL location. The ideal candidate will have a background in claims.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Reviewing initial reports of claims against policies to determine if coverage is applicable
  • Completing timely and thorough claim investigations including statements of policy holders, involved parties, and witnesses
  • Properly documenting all claim activity including completion of any required reports  
  • Making assignments for field investigations using either company field adjusting personnel or outside vendors or experts (where warranted) to help determine coverage, liability, damages and recovery potential   
  • Properly determining coverage, liability, damages, and recovery potential based on facts developed in the investigation for evaluation, resolution, and disposition of assigned claims
  • Establishing appropriate and timely claim reserves including reviewing and updating reserves as needed until claim conclusion
  • Taking prompt action to move assigned claims towards an appropriate final resolution (denial or settlement)
  • Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with agents and their staff members through open channels of communication, timely responses to agency inquiries and occasional agency visits
  • Identifying, evaluating and actively pursuing all recovery or cost sharing opportunities such as subrogation, salvage, contribution and other insurance
  • Ensuring that all appropriate claim documentation and closing documents are requested, secured, accurate, and properly executed and that claims files are promptly closed
  • Taking initiative to enhance claims/industry knowledge through training and other educational pursuits

What you’ll need:

  • IIA Program in General Insurance
  • At least one of the below Claims Specialist designations within two years
    • Associate in Claims (AIC) designation
    • Workers Compensation Claim Law Specialist (WCLS)
    • Property Claim Law Specialist (PCLS)
    • Legal Principles Claim Specialist (LPCS)
    • Casualty Claim Law Specialist (CCLS)
    • Job related seminars, courses or other training
  • Business writing course or seminar
