Preferred location for position is either Philadelphia (436 Walnut) or Roswell, GA. Will consider other locations where ACE has a regional office.
A. KEY OBJECTIVES
In collaboration with Inland Marine executive, develops and executes underwriting strategy for the business unit. Product line responsibilities include builders risk, engineered risk, contractors equipment, motor truck cargo, warehouse legal liability and other inland marine classes. Creates, monitors and communicates underwriting directives for the business unit while ensuring a consistent approach and delivery across the business. This position will work with various support centers of ACE Global Underwriting Group and ACE USA to coordinate their efforts toward achieving profitable underwriting results for the business unit. These units include Global Property, Ocean Marine, Operations, Claims, Corporate Underwriting, Actuarial, Catastrophe Management, Regulatory Compliance, Legal and all other ACE USA underwriting units.
B. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Position will be responsible for the following activities:
FINANCIAL
• Trends - monitors key performance indicators - renewal change, loss frequency, etc. -- across the book of business. Identifies potential issues and develops a plan of action to minimize impact to business unit.
• Reinsurance - in collaboration with Inland Marine executive, manages the placement of the Inland Marine reinsurance.
UNDERWRITING PROCESSES, PROCEDURES, ETC.
• Underwriting Audit - coordinates and executes internal audit process for the division. Monitors field compliance with key underwriting directives and acts as a liaison to Corporate Underwriting.
• Underwriting Guidelines - in collaboration with Inland Marine senior leadership team, creates and distributes underwriting directives for the business unit. Develops industry specific data to facilitate the decision making process.
• Emerging hazards and product development- acts as subject matter expert for emerging hazards - Mold, Terrorism, etc. Gathers and disseminates information as appropriate and develops a plan of action to minimize impact to business unit. Works with the inland marine management team, product practice groups and support areas as required to develop and enhance inland marine product offerings in response to market needs.
• Information technology - acts as the division underwriting liaison with the ACE Information Technology team.
Policy forms development, filing and regulatory compliance - works with inland marine management team on forms and endorsement wording. Manages the form filing process where required. Acts as the business unit regulatory compliance officer, ensuring that company standards are understood and followed.
PEOPLE
• Training and education - in collaboration with Inland Marine senior leadership team, develops and executes a training program.
• Underwriting authority - in collaboration with Inland Marine executives, manages the delegation of authority throughout the business unit.
C. QUALFICATIONS:
• Minimum of 15 Years of Underwriting Experience
• High level of product knowledge including:

• Strong Organizational and Time Management Skill
• Strong Verbal and Written Communication Skill
