Universal Insurance Managers, Inc. (UIM), a Florida-domiciled corporation, began writing property business in Florida in 2004. Soon after,in 2005, Universal Insurance Company of Texas (UICTX) was incorporated and began writing property business in Texas. The two companies together (aka Universal North America) employ approximately 55 individuals. All of these employees, as well as prospective employees, are expected to perform many different functions, even those that are not considered in their area of expertise. Universal is in the early stages of expansion into other states and into other lines of insurance and seeks to capture 3-5% of the homeowner's market share in each state that it writes. To support the expansion, additional staff is being hired as we continue to expand our operations.
